I consider myself a representational painter, but I am interested in abstract forms and compositions that exist in nature. It is not my priority to attempt to exactly reproduce the images around me, but to interpret them in an evocative fashion that resonates with the observer. It fascinates me that painting subjects are “available” wherever I go, whatever the conditions, whatever the light. Latest News

Jason Emery was born and raised in Maine, and attended Rutgers College in the early 1970’s. A Coloradan since 1976, he enjoys oil painting throughout Colorado and wherever he travels,
but particularly en plein air in Boulder County.
He has studied with Colorado artists Jay Moore, Chuck Ceraso, and Ileana Barbu. Other studies were undertaken with Peggy Kroll-Roberts at the Scottsdale Academy of Fine Arts, and also Kevin Weckbach, Kim English and Ken Valastro at the Arts Students League of Denver.

In 2003, two of Jason’s oil paintings were accepted in his first juried show, the Thompson Valley Art League Regional Art Exhibition.

Juried inclusion in the Northern Colorado Artists Association Annual Exhibition & Sale has occurred every year since 2005

2006 included commissioned work for the new Loveland Medical Center and Boulder Community Hospital.

Jason has been an active annual participant of the Longmont Studio Tour since 2004.

In 2006, Emery was accepted into one of the premier representational artist associations in the country, the Oil Painters of America, as an associate member.

Jason had three paintings juried into the statewide Regionalism Show at the University of Colorado – Boulder in 2006. 2007 brought inclusion in the “Visual Noise” Exhibit on the same Campus.

The painting “Big Blue” won the Jurors’ Award in the exhibit “Not To Scale” at the Old Firehouse Art Center, Longmont, Colorado – Summer 2007.
Jason’s work can often be viewed at Blink Gallery in Boulder, Colorado, in special shows at The Eye Opener in Niwot, as well as at his studio by appointment.
